What is Coaching?

  • 1.

COACHING REQUIRES COMMITMENT AND CONNECTION. BOTH PARTIES MUST BELIEVE IN THE PROCESS TO MAKE IT WORK.

  • 2.

GOOD COACHES PROVIDE LESSONS IN MOTIVATION, COURAGE, MINDSET, RESILIENCE, CREATIVITY AND SELF-LEADERSHIP.

  • 3.

COACHES ASK DIFFICULT QUESTIONS. COACHES ARE NOT PSYCHOLOGISTS OR PSYCHIATRISTS. THEIR JOB IS TO HELP INDIVIDUALS, COUPLES AND GROUPS FOCUS, PLAN AND SET TIMELINES. COACHES LISTEN FIRST, MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS, HELP DESIGN CHANGE PLANS AND HOLD CLIENTS ACCOUNTABLE.

FOR SITUATIONS INVOLVING MEDIATION, CRISIS AND SUICIDE PREVENTION AND GRIEF, LISTENING AND TRANSPARENCY ARE KEY TO UNDERSTANDING.

  • 4.

“MANY” PEOPLE DON’T KNOW THEY NEED COACHING, ARE AFRAID TO HEAR THE TRUTH OR ADMIT THEIR OWN TRUTH. DEFENSIVE PEOPLE CAN’T BE COACHED

  • 5.

COACHES PROVIDE FEEDBACK THAT CAN MAKE CLIENTS UNCOMFORTABLE. LISTENING IS LEARNING. LETTING GO IS CHANGE.

  • 6.

FRIENDS, PARTNERS, SPOUSES AND CO-WORKERS MAY PROVIDE ADVICE AND INFORMATION, BUT ARE OFTEN NOT EQUIPPED LIKE TRAINED AND EXPERIENCED COACHES TO PROVIDE THE LEVEL OF ATTENTION, ACCOUNTABILITY AND CLARITY. THEY ALSO MAY NOT ASK TOUGH QUESTIONS OR MAINTAIN ACCOUNTABILITY AND CONFIDENTIALITY.

  • 7.

GOOD COACHES BENEFIT AS MUCH OR MORE THAN CLIENTS, ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE ARE MEASURABLE RESULTS.

Resilience & Hope

Though some of our services involve crisis mediation, suicide prevention and mental health along with executive leadership and lessons for business, Coach Glenn Proctor refers to what we do as coaching. It’s confidential listening, positive, reality-based, and full of growth, hope, resilience and understanding.

Lead or others will make you follow.

“I've been with Coach Proctor for almost a decade. As my coach he has seen the transitions in my life while managing personal life and professional career. Through it all is the kind of person you want in your corner.”
